You can expect to earn about $22,000 per year when you first start in a career as a certified nursing assistant in the state of Kansas. Some individuals earn more if they work in a home healthcare setting. Your income can increase as you gain experience in the career. Before you can start your career as a CNA, you will need to complete a state approved training program and pass the examination for certification. Programs require students to be at least 18 years old and most of the programs do not accept individuals who did not graduate high school. However, the Dodge City Community College does accept applicants who do not have a college diploma.
Dodge Community College offers a Basic Nurse Aide Curriculum for individuals who want to work in any general healthcare setting. They also offer the Geriatric Nurse Aide Program that prepares students to meet the specific needs of elderly individuals in nursing care facilities. This training program covers 5 credit hours for students who complete the program. This is just one of many exception nursing assistant training programs available within the state of Kansas. Graduates of any state approved nursing assistant training course are then able to sit for the certification exam. Students will not be certified until they pass this exam.

Hi, i’m 17 and about to start my senior year in highschool, i was wondering if and where i would be able to take CNA classes at my age. I would like to get it done this summer. If you have any suggestions that would be great! thank you
Catherine says
Hi Kelsey,
One of the main requirements for becoming a CNA is that you have to be 18 and above. If you want you might be able to take the classes for CNA but you wont be eligible to sit for the certification exam since you’re under age. i would advise you to wait until you’ve reached 18 and then do your classes together with the exam. tc.
