Are you interested in becoming a nursing assistant in Nebraska? You will need to complete a state approved nursing assistant program and pass the certification examination for nursing assistants. There are some exceptions to this rule but most people will need to complete a training course before sitting for the exam. There are a variety of nursing assistant programs offered throughout Nebraska. Most programs do not last longer than four weeks and only cost a few hundred dollars to complete.
You might also qualify to sit for the certification exam and forego training classes if you were education as a nurse in another country, worked as a nursing aide in the military or if you have an expired nursing license (as long as it expired for non-renewal and not because you were charged with a crime against patients). You can submit an application to the Nurse Aide Registry Board with details of your prior experience and education history. If your credentials are accepted, you can then sit for the nursing assistant certification exam. When you pass the nursing assistant exam, you will then be certified. All nursing assistants who have received certification are listed in the Nurse Aide Registry.
The demand for CNA’s and HHA’s is expected to increase at a high rate due to the aging population in the state. This is a good opportunity for those who want to take CNA as a career option since getting a job will get easier.
