Nursing assistant training programs and the certification testing are carefully regulated and monitored in the state of Georgia. The Nurse Aide Registry which lists certified nursing assistants in the state has been used since 1990. You can find CNA training programs within many nursing care facilities, community colleges, some high schools and even certain nursing schools. Most courses are designed to take 2-6 weeks to complete. Some programs might be more intense or cover less hours each day and therefore take longer to complete. All training for nursing assistants must span at least 85 hours. Prospective nursing assistance students can sit for the certification exam upon completion of a training program.
You will receive additional training each year in your career as a certified nursing assistant. In fact, the state of Georgia requires nursing assistants to receive 12 hours of in-service training annually. Training is used to make certain all nursing assistants are updated on the latest information and skills pertaining to nursing assistant. Both prospective and current CNAs are well trained to provide excellent care to patients within the state of Georgia. Nursing assistants provide a range of basic care services to patients in healthcare as well as home health settings.
Once you finish your course and get certified the state nursing board of Georgia does not carry out background check on nurse aides; this has to be carried out by the employer before they hire the individual. The board keeps track of this by carrying out timely spot checks to ensure that health care facilities are following the rules and regulations as per the legal compliance act of performing the background checks before employment.
