You can take up to 24 months from your date of completing a training course to sit for your certification exam. Once you pass your test, you will become a certified nursing assistant. Do i require a GED to enroll for a CNA Training Program?
There is no US federal law that specifically mentions that you have to have a high school diploma or an equivalent GED. How do i keep my license active in Alabama and what if my license lapses?
In order to keep your license active, the state of Alabama requires that you work for a minimum of 8 hours in every 24 month period, this can be in a hospital, nursing home or any other health care facility for monetary compensation, community service and free volunteering does not count towards this 8 hours. For the question of your license lapsing without clocking in the required time in a 24 months’ time frame, this requires you to have your license reactivated – which basically means you have to take the course and sit for the state approved exam again in order to start working as a CNA in a healthcare facility.
