Free CNA Training in ME – Maine

In order to become a certified nursing assistant in Maine, you will need to complete an extensive training course that has been approved through the state of Maine.  The federal regulations require at least 75 hours of training for prospective CNAs, however, Maine requires a minimum of 180 hours of training.  After completion of a training course, you will need to pass the competency exam before becoming certified.  Courses usually cost $450 or more in Maine, however, you can find some free cna training options. See below for a list of free training opportunities.

If you have already paid for your nursing assistant training, you might be eligible to have the cost and fees reimbursed to you.  An employer will often reimburse you for these fees if they hire you to work for them as a certified nursing assistant. In fact, Medicare and Medicaid providers must provide reimbursement options to you if you received your certification within the last year.

You can apply to be accepted into the free cna training program offered by the Maine Medical Center.  Applicants will need to complete an interview process and take an exam to be considered for acceptance into the program.  The program was designed to help individuals who would not have the funds to pay for training.  The Maine Medical Center often hires some of the individuals who graduate from the program.

Perhaps you are already working at a healthcare facility in a non-medical job position.  If you have an interest in becoming a certified nursing assistant, you should share this interest with your employer.  The employer might very well be willing to pay for you to receive training if they are in need of more qualified nursing assistants.  This is certainly something to consider.

With a little time and effort, you can find potential options for receiving your CNA training at no cost to you.  You will be well on your way to a new career.
