If you are working or planning to work as a nursing assistant in North Dakota, you will need to receive training and to complete a certification test. The state has over 50 state approved nursing assistant training programs. You should easily be able to find a program in or near your local community. Most training courses are affordably priced and only last for a few weeks. If you want to work as a nursing assistant, you should know that this is considered an entry level position within the healthcare industry. North Dakota employs around 10,000 CNAs with an average salary of about $22,000 annually. In North Dakota there is an agency that maintains the Nurse Aide Registry (which lists all certified nursing assistants). The Division of Health Facilities is responsible for managing the Nurse Aide Registry. They add the names of individuals who complete a training course and subsequently pass the nursing assistant certification exam. Employers will verify an individual’s certification with the registry to ensure that their license has not expired and that they have not had any charges for abuse or mistreatment of patients in any other facility.
For any student who wants to become a CNA in North Dakota he/she has to pass the competency exam set forth by the state nursing board. The exam is split into 2 parts namely the written portion and the skills portion. After you successfully pass the exam you are allowed to work as a Certified Nursing Aide in any long-term health care facility. Your license expires every 2 years so make sure you renew it before it lapses. For this you will have to fill out a renewal of licensure form and must have worked for at least 8 hours during this 2 year period, if not then you will not get your renewal done and you will have to re do the exams.
In the case of taking your CNA classes, you must finish at least sixteen hours of classroom knowledge based sessions as per the guidelines put done by the ND nursing board before you can start you skills portion of the classes with hand-on contact with residents or patients.
If you are caught with any misconduct you will be stripped of your license and will no longer be able to work as a CNA in North Dakota, you will also be included on the Abuse List. There are a number of reasons that can get you on the abuse list such as Mental, Neglect, Theft, Physical or sexual abuse, verbal confrontations with patients and or staff.

This Good Samaritan Society Location recently offered nursing assistant training as one of their career training programs for the first time. The class was 92 hours of theory and related instruction. Students then received 16 hours of hands on training to gain their clinical experience. The program made it possible for individuals to train for a new career so that they could obtain a better life. The Society did not charge a fee for those they enrolled in the course.

The College offers a non-credit program for individuals looking to become certified nursing assistants. This course is also required for those students wishing to enroll in nursing programs. This course will be 80 hours and will include 41 hours in the classroom. Students will have another 19 hours receiving supervised practicum training. Another 16 hours will be dedicated to the clinical studies. There is even a four hour period for review and testing. This CNA training course is at a cost of $400.
