You must receive your nursing assistant certification in Illinois if you want to work as a nursing aide in a licensed skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility or for a home health agency. Before you can become certified in the state, you will need to select and attend a training program that has been approved by the state. Additionally, you must pass both sections of the state’s certification exam for nursing assistants. Once you receive your certification, you will be listed in the Heath Care Worker Registry.
The Registry lists the names of qualified individuals who have received their certification as nursing assistants. This registry is managed by the Department of Public Heath. Employers can verify information on potential CNA applicants by telephone or online. Individuals cannot be hired for employment until their certification is verified. Missouri does their part to ensure that nursing assistants are well qualified to provide care for patients. A job as a nursing assistant is a good choice if you are interested in stepping stone to a more advanced healthcare career or if you are looking to enter into the healthcare field without needing to invest a lot of time or money for your training.
